MWC 2024 | iFLYTEK Invited to Participate in 5G New Calling Industry Development Forum at GTI Summit 2024

GTI Summit 2024, themed “Monetising 5GAI”, took place in Barcelona, Spain. GTI (Global TD-LTE Initiative) is an international industrial cooperation platform initiated in 2011 by China Mobile in collaboration with Bharti Airtel, Sprint (Clearwire), SoftBank Mobile, Vodafone, and other operators. Over the past decade, GTI Summit has evolved into an annual grand event for the telecommunications industry.

In his address, Yang Jie, Chairman of China Mobile, emphasized the operator’s commitment as a founding member of GTI to an open approach aimed at integrating into the global innovation network and facilitating the deep integration of the digital economy with the real economy. Gao Tongqing, Co-chairman of GTI and Executive Vice President of China Mobile, officially unveiled the joint report titled “5G-A×AI New Era, New Opportunities, and New Value” by China Mobile Think Tank and GTI. He highlighted that the emerging era of 5G-A×AI will unlock expansive value opportunities for operators.

5G New Calling Industry Development Forum: Joint innovation to promote business success

The 5G New Calling Industry Development Forum brought together more than 300 industry leaders and experts from global operators, standards organizations, equipment manufacturers, terminal manufacturers, and other industry partners to delve into the development trend of the new calling industry, global unified ecological construction, and other hot topics.

During the forum, in line with the its objectives, representatives unanimously proposed the following initiatives: “to collectively advance the maturity and widespread adoption of video call services, along with cross-operator interoperability; to promote the maturity and widespread use of IMS data channel, along with cross-operator interoperability; to develop UX recommendations and minimum service requirements for 5G New Calling; to establish a set of globally unified terminal API and reference open-source SDK; and to conduct certification tests on new 5G new calling network equipment and terminals in compliance with global standards”, aiming to foster the development and prosperity of the emerging telecommunications industry.

Ever since iFLYTEK initially unveiled iFLYTEK Spark Large Speech Model in May 2023, its user base of has surpassed 24 million, garnering widespread acclaim and significantly advancing the integration of artificial intelligence technology into everyday life.

Centred around the key topic of this forum, “Collaborative Innovation Driving Business Success”, Jiang Tao presented three innovative intelligent applications for 5G New Calling developed jointly by iFLYTEK and China Mobile. “AI Shorthand”, “Smart Translation”, and “Star Calling”, leveraging the capabilities of the iFLYTEK Spark Large Speech Model, offer customers a stable, high-definition, visually interactive, and intelligent new calling experience.

In his speech, Jiang Tao provided a detailed overview of the innovative application “AI Shorthand”. Utilising iFLYTEK’s latest iFLYTEK Spark Large Speech Model, this application is capable of transcribing voice calls into text records, accurately summarising content and action items, and delivering them to users via real-time SMS after the call. It is compatible with all mobile phones, addressing issues such as prolonged communication time for important calls, numerous conversation topics, and incomplete recordings, thus enhancing work efficiency.
