iFLYTEK Boosts Sponge City Construction with Technology

The 3rd Smart Sponge City Forum—sponsored by the School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering of Wuhan University, the Water Resources Commission of China Society of Natural Resources, and the Urban Water Conservancy Specialised Committee of Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society—was recently held in Wuhan. The event was co-organized by iFLYTEK. Qin Ping, General Manager of the iFLYTEK Smart Water Conservancy Business, delivered a keynote speech at the forum on how “Technology Opens up a New Mode for Water Disaster Prevention”.

Under the theme of “Smart Empowerment and Systematic Governance—Promoting the High-quality Development of Sponge City in All Areas,” the conference invited top industry experts to discuss present urban water conservation issues and practical solutions in designing, creating, and maintaining a sponge city.

During the forum, Qin Ping discussed iFLYTEK’s water emergency resource service platform for flood control and drought relief. The platform integrates three systems—monitoring and early warning, command and dispatch, and emergency rescue—and creates a “uniform, efficient, reliable, and rapidly coordinated” resource for flood control and drought relief.

The compulsory actions in the response process are streamlined and alert potential dangers. The system includes four early warning processes for mountain torrents, rivers, reservoirs, and the public. The reminders generated by the system are automatically sent with a handmade message through an entirely traceable process.

The whole process progressive early warning system was designed to provide warnings at multiple times, in addition to real-time monitoring. Risk early warning is carried out in stages according to different forecast periods to extend the forecast period and improve accuracy.

The system realizes functions such as smart group voice call and call-on-demand early warnings by building an intelligent response platform for flood prevention and early warning.

Important information about the plan is marked and shown on the map. Key information such as dangerous areas, resettlement sites, transfer routes, and related locations are mapped based on the superposition of two-dimensional and three-dimensional terrains.

The compulsory actions in engineering hazard disposal are streamlined and modularized. The process can be traceable, from patrol reporting, step-by-step review, consultation, and judgment to emergency resource scheduling, disposal process, and result feedback. The key links of disposal are reminded by smartphone to ensure that tasks are not missed, and measures are correctly implemented.

With the help of voice commands, users can inquire about flood control and drought relief basic data and real-time monitoring to broadcast automatically.

In the future, iFLYTEK will continue to technologically empower smart water conservancy construction and support the development of business intelligence applications to boost the sustainable development of water conservancy.
